Manuela Ames (MYP German)

Being born as the daughter of a pilot in the Frankfurt area of Germany my curiosity about other countries and my love for traveling has started at a very early age. My passion for languages, literature and the desire to share my love of learning were my main motivators to become a teacher.

In the last 20 years I taught at two different international schools in the Frankfurt Rhein Main area as well as five years at a secondary state school in Nordrhein- Westfalen. In those years I taught German and English to students from Kindergarten to 12th Grade including many additional responsibilities in my teaching roles and administration. Eight years ago I was introduced to the IB (taught within the PYP, MYP and DP) and have become a huge believer in the principals of the IB program.

I am fortunate to not only have met my wonderful husband at an international school eight years ago, but to also work with him as a team for many years now. The last three years I have had a slightly different job; being a stay-at-home mother of two girls, Felicitas (19 months) and Helena (3,5 years), which has sometimes proven to be much more challenging than being a teacher.

Although there hasn’t been a lot of time to enjoy my hobbies lately, I still love reading, ballroom and flamenco dancing, skiing and playing board games.

I am thrilled to be part of an enthusiastic team and to contribute to the development of this exciting new school and implement the educational philosophy in which I believe. Additionally I am looking forward to using my experience and knowledge to help ISC continue to further its growth and excellence.
