Katherine Goetzke (EAL Coordinator)

My love of the mountains began early, growing up in South Lake Tahoe, California USA. As a child, I developed a passion for hiking, biking and swimming in alpine lakes.

After finishing my B.A. at Santa Clara University, I taught Kindergarten children for two years and, developed a fascination with learning and the interest in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL). I went on to complete a M.A. in TESOL and later an Ed.D in Instructional Technology from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. During that time I start consulting with teachers on how to integrate technology into their classrooms.

My next step professionally was with a business consultancy in their learning and talent development organization. There, I worked with colleagues to develop and implement training programs based on the professional development needs of clients. We settled in Munich, Bavaria, where my husband is from. After six years in consulting I took time off to raise our two sons and found I missed working with children and the community of a school.

Most recently, I have been working part-time at Munich International School as a substitute teacher and volunteer. I am excited to be joining the ISC team and look forward to teaching EAL this fall. I also look forward to living in beautiful Carinthia.
