Ana da Costa (PYP Coordinator / PYP 4)

I was born in a small town near Porto, Portugal.  My family and friends have always said that I was a very responsible and caring child. These values, my compassion towards others’ suffering, and the will to make a change guided me throughout my growth. As a teenager, I joined Greenpeace and devoted my free time for a greener, more peaceful world.

At the age of 18, I decided to complete a degree in Teacher Education in Biology and Geology. This way, I combined my love and interest for nature and science with the opportunity to participate in the education of future generations, empowering them to make much-needed changes to the world. After 11 years of teaching, I do not regret my choice!

In 2004, I married an informatics engineer who was working for a multinational company. Without realizing it, this decision awoke my desire to become a more international person and experience living abroad.  In October 2006, my husband earned the opportunity to work in Dresden, Germany, where I have been teaching for the past seven years in the PYP and MYP faculty at Dresden International School.

Experiencing a new international environment has enriched me so much; it has been priceless!  In 2008, my sweet, caring and intelligent son, Alan, was born.  I am blessed to have such a great family, and  I am looking forward to contributing my experience, knowledge, and devotion to the education of our students at International School Carinthia.
